This wine has all the signatures of elegance and balance that will continue to deliver for decades to come.
Crafted from our finest Pyrenees fruit, the 2013 Taltarni Reserve follows a long tradition of great Taltarni reds whilst acknowledging the uniquely Australian history of shiraz cabernet blends. It blends
modern Australian winemaking techniques with timeless ’old world’ winemaking practices; perfectly capturing the philosophy of winemaking at Taltarni.
2013 was an ideal season for red varietals in the Pyrenees, with a cool start to the season, the fruit was able to develop over a longer season resulting in rich flavours. Harvested at first light, the fruit was placed in small open‐top ferments where a week long cold
maceration occurred to slowly extract the varietal flavours. With a naturally started ferment, the fruit was traditionally handled under the supervision of the winemakers. The wine was then placed into
French oak barrels where it was allowed to age and develop .
Winemaker Comments
With a deep and rich red colour that holds all the way through the hue, the wine’s vibrancy is true to its heritage. Alluring savoury aromas are enriched by complexing dark berries and dried herb notes. The blend shows its iconic flavours of forest fruits and light
spices, all of which persists and pairs flawlessly with the refined body and velvet tannin.
This wine has all the signatures of elegance and balance that will continue to deliver for decades to come.
As the Reserve has more complexity and drive, it can stand up to a spice driven or fattier dishes, such as braised duck or peppered steak.
