Harvest/Winemaking
Following the floods of 2011, 2012 was a perfect year. We had great soil moisture and a cool‐to‐warm growing season. This created a balanced canopy, with extra hang time for the fruit, producing an
outstanding vintage.
Fermented in small open‐top fermenters, with plunging and pump overs for 6‐10 days prior to pressing, this wine underwent malolactic fermentation in oak and was then aged for a further 16 months prior to blending and bottling.
Winemaker Comments
A deep red‐brick colour, this wine displays cherry, cassis, chocolate mocha and white pepper on the nose. On the palate, the medium, balanced body is complemented by smooth silky tannins and an
everlasting finish. This elegant wine is the epitome of a Pyrenees shiraz, being one of the best vintages released in Taltarni’s recent history.
