1977 is the first commercial release of Cabernet Sauvignon from
Taltarni, a site that was chosen by Bernard Portet and John Goelet
for it’s potential to grow Bordeaux varieties. Taltarni Pyrenees
Cabernet Sauvignon exemplifies the Pyrenees regional benchmark
style.
1977 was a warm and dry year producing red wines of great
complexity. The special reserve wines were made to cellar for at
least 10—15 years prior to drinking. Winemaking was similar to
the 1977 Cabernet but with longer time on skins followed by 2
year in Never French oak barriques to give this wine more fine
tannins and structure.
Winemaker Comments
This wine is looking quite youthful for its age, with an attractive
brick red hue. It is showing excellent age and complexity with
rich chocolate note and hints of leather, whilst still displaying the
spice and dried mint characters which typify the Pyrenees region.
The palate is structured and long, with tannins which are still
supple and silky.
